How many photographs do you take?

It depends on each shoot. There is minimum amount on each shoot that I promise but it is 99% more than that.

Do you provide black and white images?

I photograph in colour, but during editing I may convert certain images to black and white if it enhances their look and feel.

Do you use artificial lighting?

I love natural light, and work mostly with just natural light. But sometimes you need a kiss of the flash to add to the image. That's where big, soft lighting comes in.

How does copyright work?

I retain the copyright on all images for commercial purposes. You are welcome to share them with family, enter them into competitions, or print them for personal use. However, if a third party—such as a venue, brand, or publication—wishes to use the photos for advertising or commercial purposes, they’ll need to contact me to discuss usage rates. I also reserve the right to feature selected images from your family session on my website, social media, and in marketing materials. If there’s a sensitive reason why you prefer not to have your photos shared publicly—whether it’s privacy concerns or something more dramatic—please let me know, and I’ll gladly respect your wishes.

"HE CAN PHOTOSHOP THAT"

How important is post-processing in your final images?

Also known as ‘editing,’ this is a vital part of what I offer in family photography. I focus on keeping your images as natural and true-to-life as possible, simply enhancing the colours and contrast to bring out the warmth, connection, and mood of your family moments.

Can you remove my mole, make me skinny, add some muscle, put me on an iceberg?

No, I keep your photos as true to the day as possible. I don’t do extreme retouching or change how people look—I prefer to capture and preserve your family just as you are. Detailed alterations also take considerable time, which would increase costs.

Final Questions

Do you shoot only digital?

Yes.

Do you shoot only families?

No, I do a range of photography. See the commercial and wedding section on my website.

Do you back-up photos?

I try to keep the photos but hard drives does fail over time. Once delivered to you I do suggest that once you received your disc that you make your own back-ups.

How long do you keep the photos for?

I keep copies of every shoot at least 60 days after the photos have been handed over to the client. After that the onus is on the client to back-up their photos.

If you are not available do you have a photographer who can take your place?

After 600 shoots I haven’t missed a single shoot. Not planning to do so soon, Although I can’t promise anything, I will do my utmost best to get an excellent photographer in my place if need be.
