Chris & Christelle’s Destination Wedding at Nooitgedacht Wine Estate

A Destination Wedding in the Stellenbosch Winelands

When Chris and Christelle decided to tie the knot, they chose to celebrate their love halfway across the world. Although Christelle grew up in South Africa, Chris is Australian, so their wedding at Nooitgedacht Wine Estate in Stellenbosch became a true destination affair for his family and friends. From the moment they arrived, the couple’s warmth and down‑to‑earth nature made it a joy to document every laugh, tear and tender glance.

Celebrating Love at a Historic Estate

Nestled just outside Stellenbosch, Nooitgedacht Wine Estate is a working farm with centuries of history. The estate dates back to 1774, when the farm was granted to Johannes Gijsbertus Serrurier. Over the years it flourished as an agricultural hub, with wine production becoming its hallmark under the care of successive owners. In the 20th century the property underwent transformations and changes in ownership, adapting to shifting economic and social conditions.

Today, Nooitgedacht’s Cape Dutch manor house and tree‑lined lawns make it one of the most romantic venues in the Winelands. The vineyards still produce quality wines, and the estate’s blend of history and natural beauty provides a timeless backdrop for weddings, events and travellers seeking authentic Cape charm.

Chris & Christelle’s Wedding Day

On the day of the wedding, family and friends from Australia and South Africa gathered beneath ancient oaks to celebrate. The afternoon ceremony took place in the estate’s gardens, with sunlight filtering through the leaves as Christelle walked down the aisle. After heartfelt vows and a shower of confetti, guests enjoyed locally produced wines while we captured portraits among the vines and historic buildings.

The reception in the restored banquet hall was filled with laughter, speeches and dancing. Chris and Christelle’s love radiated throughout the evening, making it easy to capture candid moments that they will treasure for years to come. It was a privilege to witness their union and to be part of such a joyous celebration.
