Event photography at the President Hotel

x

PNL commissioned me to do some event photography at the President Hotel in Cape Town.
It is always great to work at the venue. They have a great “pre-drinks” area that is normally a outside Cocktail area.
With the amazing Cape Town sunsets it really sets the tone for corporate events meet and greets!

Here are three tips to help your event photographer capture the best moments and make the most out of your corporate event:

  1. Communicate your goals and expectations: Start by clearly communicating your event goals and expectations to your photographer. Provide them with a detailed brief that includes the purpose of the event, key moments or activities you want them to capture, and any specific shots or angles you desire. By aligning their understanding with your vision, you increase the chances of them capturing the essence of the event effectively.

  2. Provide a shot list and schedule: Create a shot list and schedule for the event, outlining important moments, speakers, activities, and any specific details you want to be captured. Share this document with your photographer in advance so they can plan their shots accordingly. A comprehensive shot list helps them stay organized, ensures that no critical moments are missed, and provides them with a clear direction for the event coverage.

  3. Consider the lighting and venue: The lighting and venue play a significant role in the outcome of event photography. If possible, arrange a pre-event walkthrough with your photographer so they can assess the lighting conditions and plan accordingly. If the venue has poor lighting, discuss the need for additional lighting equipment or external flashes. Additionally, provide them with any relevant information about the venue’s layout or special areas that you want them to focus on.

Bonus tip: Encourage candid shots and interactions. Candid moments often capture the genuine atmosphere and emotions of the event. Encourage your photographer to capture natural interactions, expressions, and reactions of attendees. These candid shots can add a sense of authenticity and engagement to your event photographs.

Remember, effective communication, detailed planning, and considering the technical aspects of photography will greatly contribute to getting the most out of your corporate event photography.
