Wedding planning is intense — there’s a lot to think about, a lot of decisions to make, and a lot of opinions flying around. Sometimes the best thing you can do is take ten minutes, put your feet up, and watch a wedding video that makes you laugh, sigh, or remember why you’re doing all of this in the first place.
Here are eight short videos I’ve stumbled across over the years that I think are worth your time. Some are funny, some are clever, some are just genuinely beautiful. None of them are mine — I’m just sharing what I’ve enjoyed.
1. The Maroon 5 wedding crashers
One of my favourite music videos of all time. Maroon 5 turn up unannounced at real wedding receptions and play live for the couples. The reactions are pure gold — the kind of joy you only get when something completely unexpected and brilliant happens on a day people have been planning for a year.
2. How to plan a wedding in 10 steps (the honest version)
Many a true word is spoken in jest. This one will resonate with anyone who’s ever been deep in the planning weeds. It’s funny because it’s accurate — and a useful reminder that the perfect wedding doesn’t exist, but a meaningful one absolutely does.
3. 100 years of wedding dresses in 3 minutes
For the brides — a quick visual tour through a century of wedding fashion. Watch how silhouettes shift from Edwardian formality through 80s puffball drama to today’s clean, minimal looks. A good reminder that “traditional” means something different in every decade.
4. Some good advice from real brides
I stumbled across this one and it stuck with me. Real brides, looking back at their own weddings, sharing what they wish they’d known going in. No glossy magazine advice — just honest, useful perspective from people who’ve been there.
5. The groom’s Lego surprise
I loved Lego as a kid, so this one hit a soft spot. A groom uses Lego to surprise his bride in a way that’s both ridiculous and surprisingly moving. Proof that the best wedding moments often come from the most personal touches, not the most expensive ones.
6. The funniest wedding surprise I’ve ever seen
One of the funniest wedding videos I’ve ever come across. I won’t spoil it — just watch. The kind of moment that makes the whole day unforgettable, and exactly the sort of thing wedding photographers live for capturing.
7. 250 people dance video
I’m impressed that the couple learnt all the words. This one’s a flash-mob-style dance number where seemingly everyone at the wedding has been in on the secret. Pure fun. A nice example of how the unexpected entertainment moments often become the ones guests talk about for years.
8. The GoPro dog
What a great idea. A GoPro strapped to the wedding dog, capturing the day from a perspective no human photographer could ever match. It’s chaotic, it’s joyful, and it’s the kind of creative idea I love seeing couples bring to their day.
9. The groom in tears
I just love a bit of emotion at a wedding — and this groom’s reaction is the kind of moment every photographer hopes to catch. As a wedding photographer who’s been known to well up at a few of these myself, I have a soft spot for the criers. Watch the groom’s face as the bride walks in.
10. The emotional Haka
An emotional one to close out. Do yourself a favour and watch this all the way to the end. As a South African, I have a deep respect for what’s happening here — a New Zealand wedding party performing a traditional Māori Haka for a couple. The energy in the room is unforgettable, and the kind of moment that reminds me why I love capturing weddings.
