Where Camps Bay gives you the Twelve Apostles close behind you, Bloubergstrand gives you the full, iconic postcard shot of Table Mountain across the water — the view everyone recognises. It’s one of Riekert’s top 3 shoot locations, with a real mix of terrain in a small area: wide open beach, fynbos and small dunes.
Works well for families who want the classic Cape Town skyline shot without the tourist density, and for anyone who wants a session with visual variety in a single 2-hour outing.
Where we typically shoot
On the Rocks
Our starting point — the beach area near the well-known restaurant of the same name, with the Table Mountain view straight across the bay.
Derde Steen
A short drive on from On the Rocks — beach, fynbos and small dunes, with Table Mountain in the background. Gives a nice variety within the same session.
What to know
Session structure
A typical session runs about 2 hours: starting at On the Rocks, then driving to Derde Steen for photos on the beach, fynbos and small dunes, with Table Mountain in the background throughout.
Wind
Bloubergstrand is famous for wind — it’s a kitesurfing hub, even more so than Camps Bay. Morning sessions are calmest; afternoons can be breezy year-round, not just in summer.
Parking
Park about 100m before you get to the Google pin — there’s plenty of free parking on the left side of the road. Meeting point on Google Maps →
What to wear
As with Camps Bay — lighter, neutral tones. Avoid anything that’ll flap or blow around excessively on a windy day.
