Event Photography in Cape Town — Corporate, Brand and Private Events
Updated 27 October 2026
Event photography documents an event so the people behind it can use the images afterwards — for marketing, social media, press, reporting and memories. In Cape Town I photograph luxury brand events, corporate functions, team-building days and private celebrations, and I have also covered events in Sandton, Johannesburg. As one of Moët & Chandon’s regular photographers, I know how much a brand relies on its event imagery. This page shows real events and what good coverage looks like.

What Good Event Coverage Looks Like
- The whole story. At a corporate function my goal is to document the entire experience, not just the formal moments but the atmosphere and the interaction that make the evening memorable.
- Light that suits the venue. At evening events, balancing ambient light while keeping the warmth of the space makes the images feel natural and polished.
- Brand-ready in camera. Shooting with intention means lighting, composition and branding are right in-camera, so post-production is fast.
- Candid, not staged. For team events especially, authentic moments beat set-up shots.
- Images that work hard. A good gallery serves social media, brand marketing, press releases and future promotional material.
Luxury Brand Events: Moët & Chandon
Mount Nelson, Cape Town. For International Champagne Day, the Mount Nelson’s timeless architecture, manicured gardens and sophisticated interiors set the tone for an evening of elegance. Every detail, from the branded elements to the presentation of the bottles, contributed to a cohesive, high-end experience, and my job was to capture that atmosphere.
Champagne Day on a polo field, Sandton. Another Champagne Day, this time on a polo field in Sandton, Gauteng, with Moët’s world-famous hot air balloon as the centrepiece. Seeing it rise over the field added a real sense of scale and magic to the day.
Rooftop celebration, Sandton. Held on one of the tallest buildings in Sandton, Johannesburg, with panoramic city views and a golden sunset. The key requirement was turnaround: all final, edited images had to be delivered by 9:00 am the following morning, for international marketing teams, social media rollouts, press releases and brand reporting. See brand campaign photography and product launch photography.
Corporate Functions
Retail Capital, V&A Waterfront. I am always grateful that Retail Capital trusts me with their annual functions. The 2024 end-of-year celebration took place at one of the restaurants at the V&A Waterfront, with a fun, well-executed theme that brought great energy to the evening.
PNL, President Hotel. The President Hotel has an outdoor cocktail area for pre-drinks, and with Cape Town’s sunsets it sets the tone for corporate meet-and-greets.

Team Building at GrandWest
A group of young women preparing to go overseas to work as nannies gathered at GrandWest for a team-building day, one of their last chances to meet in person and build a support network before their big adventure. The company’s brief was clear: capture authentic, behind-the-scenes moments that reflect the fun, camaraderie and excitement of the day, rather than staged photographs.
Private and Themed Celebrations
Milestone birthdays deserve to be remembered too. For a 30th birthday at Kelvin Grove in Cape Town, the theme was a murder mystery night: creative outfits, dramatic storytelling and plenty of laughter. The beauty of a themed event is in the detail, from the décor and costumes to the reactions at the murder-mystery reveals, and that is where I put my attention.
How to Get the Best From Your Event Photographer
- Tell me what the images are for. Social media, press, internal reporting and printed material each need something slightly different.
- Share your deadline. If you need images the next morning, we plan for it before the event, not during it.
- Send the programme and key moments. Speeches, toasts, awards and the people who matter most.
- Tell me what must be in the frame. Branding, sponsors, guests of honour.
- Introduce me to the organiser. One contact on the day keeps things smooth.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of events do you photograph?
Luxury brand events, corporate functions, end-of-year parties, conferences, awards ceremonies, product launches, golf days, team-building events and private celebrations. Each has its own page: see my event photography page. As one of Moët & Chandon’s regular photographers, I have covered International Champagne Day at the Mount Nelson in Cape Town and events in Sandton, Johannesburg, and Riekert Cloete Photography also photographs annual functions for companies such as Retail Capital at the V&A Waterfront. At a corporate function the goal is to document the whole experience, not just the formal moments but the atmosphere and the interaction that make the evening memorable. Tell me what kind of event you are planning.
How quickly can I get the photographs?
It depends on the brief. For one luxury brand event on a rooftop in Sandton, all the final edited images had to be delivered by 9:00 am the following morning, for international marketing teams, social media rollouts, press releases and brand reporting, and we planned for that. Standard event galleries from Riekert Cloete Photography are delivered within 48 hours, and a faster turnaround can be arranged when the brief needs it. Shooting with intention helps: when lighting, composition and branding are right in-camera, post-production is fast. Tell me your deadline, and what the images are for, when you enquire, so that the delivery plan is agreed before the day.
Do you photograph events outside Cape Town?
Yes. I have photographed Moët & Chandon events in Sandton, Gauteng, as well as events across the Western Cape. They include a Champagne Day on a polo field in Sandton with Moët’s world-famous hot air balloon as the centrepiece, and a rooftop celebration on one of the tallest buildings in Sandton, with panoramic city views and a golden sunset. In Cape Town the events have ranged from International Champagne Day at the Mount Nelson to corporate functions at the V&A Waterfront. Riekert Cloete Photography plans for the venue, the light and the deadline wherever the event is, so tell me the city, the date and what the images are for.
Can you photograph a private party or birthday?
Yes. Themed birthdays and milestone celebrations are as much fun to photograph as corporate events. The approach is the same: document the whole experience, not just the formal moments but the atmosphere and the interaction that make the evening memorable, with candid moments rather than staged ones, because authentic moments beat set-up shots. Riekert Cloete Photography balances the ambient light at evening events while keeping the warmth of the space, so the images feel natural and polished. Tell me the occasion, the venue and the number of guests, and what you would like to remember, and I will advise on the coverage.
Where can I see prices?
See my event photography pricing page. Event photography is priced around the coverage you need, so the quickest way to a clear figure is to tell Riekert Cloete Photography the date, the venue, the type of event and how many hours of coverage you have in mind. A good gallery serves social media, brand marketing, press releases and future promotional material, so it also helps to tell me where the images will be used and when you need them. I will confirm the coverage, the delivery time and the price before you book.
