Wedding at Molenvliet — Anthony & Shirvonne

Anthony and Shirvonne were married at Molenvliet Wine & Guest Estate in Wellington — one of those classic Winelands venues where the mountains feel close, the vineyards do the heavy lifting, and everything softens in the afternoon light. There was a bit of rain. That tends to produce some of the most genuinely moving moments on a wedding day — when you’re laughing, slightly damp, and still completely present with each other. That’s the real thing.

Bridal Photo in Stellenbosch

Shirvonne and Anthony met through family friends in December 2007 at Cubana in Claremont. He was in Cape Town for his brother’s wedding, visiting from Melbourne. One evening stretched into four years of long distance — Cape Town to Australia — before Shirvonne eventually moved to be with him. Anthony proposed in front of their closest family and friends in Australia. Then they brought it back to the Cape to celebrate properly, with vineyards, mountains, and everyone who loved them most.

Molenvliet remains one of my favourite venues in the greater Stellenbosch and Wellington area. The grounds give you room to work — whether it’s catching a quiet couple moment in the vineyard rows or photographing the whole family during golden hour. If you’re considering Molenvliet for your own wedding, I’d love to hear from you.

Anthony and Shirvonne had their amazing wedding celebration at the lovely Molenvliet. Molenvliet is one of my favorite weddings Cape Town and surrounding areas so whenever I get the chance to shoot there I am over the moon!
The wedding itself were amazing and although we had a bit of rain here and there we managed to get some great shots. Easy with a beautiful couple like this!
How did you guys meet?
Anthony and I met through his cousin, who is also my friend, Wendy.
In December 2007, Anthony came over for his brother’s wedding in Cape Town. One night Wendy and I decided to meet up at Cubana, Claremont. Wendy had brought her Australian cousins along with her. She introduced me to Anthony and the rest is history…

Trivia:
A great deal of our relationship was long distance. Anthony lived in Melbourne, Australia, and I lived in Cape Town, South Africa when we first met. After 4 years of long distance, I finally moved to Australia. When my family came to visit us for the first time in Australia, Anthony proposed in front of our closest family and friends.
One wedding tip that you can give other wedding couples.
We would highly recommend getting a wedding planner. The planner can recommend good and reliable suppliers and assist you every step of the way, especially with items that you may not even be aware of. Our planner, Jade, was a great support to us. (As a Side note, I (Riekert) would also like to sing Jade’s praises. She was very hands-on during the day . Great with communication before and after the wedding and really brought this event together perfectly!)
