GRANT + Marichen
Chrissiesmeer
Every now and then I get the privilege to travel to some amazing places to photograph people.
In this case it was Chrissiesmeer in Mmpumalanga.
Grant and Marichen (South Africans) lives in the UK and like many of my other clients decided to come back to South Africa to share their special day with their loved ones in South Africa.
I am always amazed about the hidden gems in the country side and Florence
is definitely one of the most special venues I have ever seen. You are your people can stay and celebrate here for the whole weekend. Just have a look at this amazing Chapel that they built.
Chrissiesmeer, located in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, holds historical significance as one of the oldest European settlements in the region, dating back to the mid-19th century. Originally known as Waldeneck, it was renamed in honor of Christina de Wit, the wife of a Voortrekker leader.
The town grew around the discovery of coal and its subsequent mining activities, which fueled its early economy.
Today, Chrissiesmeer is renowned for its natural beauty, particularly its numerous freshwater lakes, making it a popular destination for birdwatching and outdoor enthusiasts… and also its weddings!
