Mont Marie is a working wine estate on the Polkadraai Road outside Stellenbosch, with views over the Bottelary hills and the Helderberg mountains on the horizon. It’s one of those venues where the setting does most of the work — vineyards in every direction, unpretentious architecture, and exceptional late-afternoon light.
Jaques and Trudie chose Mont Marie for its combination of scale and warmth. The venue handles weddings of most sizes without feeling like a factory — the farm environment keeps everything grounded, and the owners run a hands-on operation that shows on the day.
Stellenbosch weddings account for a large share of what I photograph. Mont Marie holds its own in a crowded field.
