The Reception

How much of the night I cover depends on your package — typically the walk-in, the speeches, the main course, the first dance and the garter and bouquet — and we settle the exact hours in your wedding photography consultation. One golden rule for your MC: do not surprise me. Surprises are for the guests — I need to know what is coming, because every moment in that room has an optimal lighting setup and I rig it in advance. The better I am briefed, the better it gets captured.

You will also notice my style shifts here. During the couple shoot I talk a lot; once the reception starts, I disappear into the background — watching the speeches and the faces of the people listening to them, the dance-floor action, the candid in-betweens. And if you suddenly want a photo with your niece from Finland: just wave. I run close, get the shot, and vanish again.
