The Bride

I arrive at the bridal room a minute or two before I'm needed — never twenty minutes early. The moment a photographer walks in, everyone tenses up and the makeup artist starts racing her timeline, so I time it for when the bride is almost done. I say hi, read the room, and stay in the background: the last touches of makeup, then I slip out to photograph the details — rings, bouquet, shoes, flowers — while she gets into her dress.

Then the part that matters: the final preparations, a first look with dad or mom when it feels right, a glass of bubbly with the bridesmaids, and about thirty minutes of proper bridal portraits across two or three spots at the venue. You don't have to know how to pose — after 500+ weddings as a Cape Town wedding photographer I know exactly how a dress should fall and what to do with your hands. That's my job, and I bring lighting, so we can shoot in any room and any weather.
